Operating Instructions:
1 – Place a steel nail into position onto one end of the nail starter (either the 90 or 45-degree end) carefully (as shown in the demo videos), if nails are constantly picked up via the internal magnets magnetic attraction the impacts will damage this nail starter over a short time.
2 – Place the nail starter in position using one hand, making sure your fingers are well away from the nail that is to be hammered (as shown in the demo videos).
3 – While holding the nail starter in place, use your other hand to hammer the nail head with a few light taps to drive the nail to just enough depth that the nail could be held into place on its own allowing for the nail starter to be removed, allowing for complete nailing into the wood. Make sure that the hammer does not impact the nail starter or the nail starter could be damaged.
4 – When driving a nail using the 45-degree end of the nail starter, it is recommended to first making countersink holes at the point of where you will be driving the nail into, its recommended that the countersink holes are 2x the thickness in diameter to the nails diameter thickness, this allows clearance for the nail tip to be pushed into a sturdy holding position and aligned correctly and ready for a few light taps of the hammer securing the nail in place, and ready to separate the nail starter for complete nailing into wood.
5 – Please be aware that the nail starters accuracy will depend on the wood the nail is to be driven into, many type of wood have many layers of wood grain, and wood grain will alter the direction of the nails path as its hammered into the wood, so depending on the accuracy required, you may need to pre-drill a starter hole, just deep enough for the nail to be held tightly in place and ready for complete hammering.
